I saw a necklace set kind of like this while I was shopping at OshKosh one day. I didn’t love the colors and I thought I could figure out how to make one. I love how it turned out and I love how it looks on my baby. I had so much fun taking pictures of my baby in them I thought I had to share them with you. This is a really easy tutorial and you don’t need jewelry making experience to make this. If you can string a fruit loop necklace, you can make this!
Girls Beaded Necklace and Bracelet Tutorial
Here is what you will need:
A strand of your favorite beads
1/4″ or 3/8″ ribbon ( I used 3/8″)
Elastic 0.5mm width
Needle that has an eye that can fit through your bead
Some kind of clasp (I used a plastic childrens safety clasp. They come apart easy if your child pulls on the necklace.)
Thread your needle with the elastic and tie a know in the bottom. I used about 20 inches of elastic. Thread all the beads you want onto the elastic, then tie a double knot at the other end of your beaded strand.
Now you are going to finish off the clasp on the necklace. You pull each side of the string through the sides of the plastic clasp. If you use thinnner ribbon you can tie knots in each side and tuck them in the clasps. But if you use the same size I used you have to secure them inside of the clasps with some hot glue.
This is a really fun set and it looks so cute. You can make these baby to adult sizes by just adjusting the amount of beads and the length of the ribbon that you use. If the clasp looks too intimidating you can easily just leave long pieces of ribbon and just tie a cute bow in the back.
