I just made 100 of these to go with my business card at SNAP(a blogging conference). I can tell you, I put one of these on my keychain and I love it!! I pretty much have my keys everywhere I go, so that means I have my chapstick everywhere I go. I got to the point where start to finish I could make one in about 4 minutes! These are great for hiking, biking, the pool, running, for your backpack or purse and the list goes on. They would also make great gifts! Plus they are so easy to make!!
Keychain Chapstick Holder Tutorial
Slide the fabric into the D-ring and pull it through, then fold the fabric up over the ring.
Flip the project upside down and then fold the finished edge up over the fold. This will create your chapstick holder. This is the trickiest part..but not very hard. You just need to align the layers so that nothing is poking out and make sure it is the right size for your chapstick. Then start right under the D-ring and sew barely on the edge all the way around and end with a backstitch at the D-ring again. Now you have the perfect little pocket attached to the D-ring to hold your chapstick in.
This is a really easy and fun project! Plus they are easy to mass produce so if you need to make a bunch for gifts or a backpacking trip or whatever, you can whip them out quick. They are also super cheap to make. I bought my D-rings on Amazon because they were way way cheaper in bulk than just at the craft store. Plus I also bought chapsticks on Amazon. The chapsticks are less than $.50 each and the D-rings are about $.20-$.50 depending on how many you buy. That means for the whole project, your looking at about $1.00.
